South Dakota is a state in United States located at the Midwestern region. The place is conducive to many outdoor activities that can be enjoyed by families, lovers and even individuals. South Dakota consists of four regions namely, the Drift Prairie, Great Plains, Dissected Till Plains, and Black Hills.

The Drift Prairie is the formation of hills and shallow lakes from glacial action. This region overlaps the Missouri Plateau, including the Souris River basin. This has been the home of glacier lakes and low hills. The Dissected Till Plains is a section of the Central Lowlands province, a physiographic area. This region was built during the Pre-Illinoisan Stage and formed by pre-Wisconsin glaciations. This region has been the origin of rolling hill that has many beautiful streams.

The Great Plains is also known as the Prairie Provinces or “the Prairies.” This was the home of many prairies and steppes. You will see here many canyons, plains, rolling hills, and flat-topped hills, all contributing to the lovely and scenic view of the place. The flat topped hills are called the buttes. The Black Hills is a small and isolated mountain range.
